Jack – Thank you for your help with my recent Philadelphia Marathon training. As you are aware, I struggled in my first marathon in May 2008, experiencing leg cramping at the “wall” of mile 20. This caused me to fall short of my goal of a time of 4 hours and 15 minutes. In preparation for my second marathon – Philadelphia – I followed your weekly e-mailed suggested training program. This included 5 days of running with specific paces, 1 day of cross training and 1 day of rest. You also were able to adjust the program for me when I experienced a common minor training injury, helping me to heal quickly and resume my full program.
In addition, your dietary suggestions for fluid and food intake during training, the week before the marathon and during the marathon itself enabled me to “break the wall” as I did not experience any cramping during the Philadelphia race. I also was able to experience a strong finishing kick from mile 23-26 that was the opposite of what I felt during the first marathon.
Your program assisted me in achieving my goals of surpassing the 4 hour 15 minute mark (ran 4:13) and finishing without cramping after mile 20. I will gladly retain your services in preparation for my next marathon.
All the best
Chuck
